MARKET ACCESSIBILITY IN TURKEY

TURKEY
In 2002 Turkey removed tariffs on many Tanzania made grown products, subject to set RoO (each product’s HS code needs to be checked carefully to establish whether it benefits from duty-free coverage or not).
To be eligible for duty free access the textile and apparel product must be:
- made from wholly obtained products
- sufficiently worked or processed in Tanzania. For manufactured products Turkey uses the product-specific list rule, where working or processes to be carried out on non-originating materials are spelled-out. Turkey allows for Turkish content cumulation. Non-originating materials may be used in the manufacture of a product provided that their total value does not exceed 10% of the ex-factory price of the goods. Mixed yarns and fabrics that have been made from two or more “basic textile materials” (as defined in the agreement) can benefit from a tolerance provision that specifies that up to 10% of the total weight of the basic textile material can be sourced from non-originating sources, irrespective of the HS list rule.
